Vivonoetics Partners with Beddit to Provide Contact-Free Monitoring of Sleep and Vital Signs

Vivonoetics Inc., developer of VivoSense® clinical research management and analysis software, announced today that they have partnered with Beddit, Inc., leading innovators in contact-free sleep and vital sign monitoring technology. The partnership will provide pharmaceutical companies and research organizations a practical and cost effective solution for long-term monitoring of sleep and vital signs, enabling more effective and efficient evaluation of new and existing treatments.

Objective measurements of traditional patient reported outcomes, obtained in naturalistic settings significantly improves drug development economics and time-lines. Long-term monitoring of sleep, together with long-term trends in vital signs, are powerful indicators that measure the therapeutic value of new drugs and help identify possible adverse events. Objective information about real-world patient sleep patterns, together with long term cardio-respiratory information, can be incorporated into clinical trials for inclusion/exclusion screening purposes, or as primary or secondary outcome measures.

Currently available tools for pharmaceutical researchers and healthcare practitioners to monitor sleep or vital signs are based on the application of one or more sensors to the body during sleep. The need to apply and wear sensor systems results in poor patient compliance. Thus current technologies are particularly unsuitable for long-term monitoring.

The Beddit Pro system is easily installed in the subjects own bed and passively monitors night time sleep status, without the need to wear sensors or be encumbered by wires. This makes Beddit Pro perfectly suited for long-term monitoring. Using ballistocardiographic (BCG) technology, the contact-free Beddit Pro monitoring system continuously measures both night time sleep profile and cardio-respiratory vital signs. Acquired sensor data are automatically uploaded to a secure cloud for subsequent analysis in VivoSense®. This reduces errors and allows studies to run more effectively and efficiently.

VivoSense® is a powerful software system that captures data from a variety of wearable sensor platforms and provides efficient analysis, visualization and management of long-term, non-controlled data. VivoSense® is a validated platform and is 21 CFR Part 11 compliant and specifically designed for use in clinical trials and research studies. VivoSense® can be rapidly customized and configured to generate accurate and meaningful pharmacodynamics and statistics from physiological monitoring sensors.
